Darrell Hobbs - Senior Pastor
Having lived from early childhood through high school in Colorado, Darrell developed a love for all things outdoors. Later, after graduating from Lamar University in Beaumont Texas, and marrying his wife Pam in 1982, he worked in industrial and commercial construction in various places. In 1999 they sold a successful steel company in Denver CO and sought The Lord’s will and direction.
In 2001, God clearly called Darrell into full-time vocational ministry. He attended Southwest Baptist University, graduating with a B.A. Christian Ministry - Pastoral Ministry Emphasis. Serving as a Pastor and as an Associate Pastor for nearly 8 years, Darrell, Pam and their youngest son Joshua, felt led to serve as missionaries in East Africa (Uganda and Kenya) and did so for 5 years prior to coming to Greenway Baptist Church.
Darrell and Pam have three adult children, Darci, Jake and Joshua. They enjoy living and serving their church and community in the highlands of the Appalachian Mountains where hiking, friends and local events make life a wonderful, adventurous pleasure.
Max Smith - Director of Youth Ministries
Hello! I am excited about serving the amazing youth at Greenway Baptist Church! God’s youth are the future of the church and feel blessed to lead them as they grow in the Word and in their relationship with Jesus Christ. I desire the youth to be a “Light” focused group, as we strive to put this bible verse into action:
“You are the LIGHT of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.” (Matthew 5:14)
I am an official “Boone-a-rang,” having graduated from Appalachian in 1990 and always longing to return to the community that we love. I moved back “home” in 2011, and brought my wife and our four children with us! We are the proud parents of one son and three daughters, ages 13-22. With our busy family, our hands and hearts are definitely full of His blessings!
Thank you for visiting Greenway's web site. Please let me know how I can be His light for you!
Christy Smith - Director of Children Ministries
Hello! My name is Christy Smith, and I have the privilege of serving the children at Greenway Baptist Church. Children have always been an important part of my life, and I love to minister to the "smallest of these" and their families. Guiding children as they grow in their faith - getting to know Jesus as their Friend and Helper through bible study and activities - is a blessing beyond measure. I desire for Greenway to be a place where children feel safe, secure, comfortable, and loved. God's kingdom grows through His children and their lasting relationship with Jesus!
"Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude." (Colossians 2:6-7)
My husband Max and I are living our dream with our four children in beautiful Boone, a place we have called home since 2011. A 1990 graduate of Appalachian, I have served in a variety of church ministries including nursery, preschool, children, youth, music, and food pantry. Please let me know how Greenway can come alongside your family to encourage you!
